Our philosophy

After taking over the family business in 1975, we transitioned from a mixed operation selling wine in bulk to direct marketing. Our primary motivation was to produce dry Rieslings for our customers. Currently, nearly 100% of our wines are produced in the dry and off-dry categories. Key aspects of our winemaking process include consistently clean must processing and harvesting our grapes late, allowing the natural fruit acids to be metabolized while still on the vine.

To preserve the natural aromas of the fruit, we prioritize slow fermentation in stainless steel tanks at temperatures between 15 and 18° Celsius. It is important to us to highlight the unique character of Riesling: refined wines with moderate alcohol content that clearly reflect their origin. Riesling from the steep Devonian slate slopes of the Moselle. We are convinced: you can taste the quality!

Tradition

The history of the house

The manor house of the Martinerhof estate was built in 1765, but the first documented mention of the Martinerhof dates back to 1302. Founded at that time by St. Martin's Abbey in Trier, the estate served for centuries for agriculture and viticulture. The establishment of the estate at this location also testifies to the excellent vineyard sites of Wintrich.
